Easy Wheel of Time Cross Stitch Chart

Designing the Wheel of Time Cross Stitch Chart 🎡
My father was a massive fan of the Wheel of Time series, so I grew up always seeing the latest Robert Jordan book laying around the house somewhere. Before he passed away in 2023, we had the chance to start watching the TV series together, too. However, the reason I created this Wheel of Time Cross Stitch Chart several years ago, was to stitch it as a gift for a wonderful woman named Michelle, who also happens to love the Wheel of Time books.
Michelle is an insanely talented cross stitch queen, and you can find her charts online at Bendy Stitchy Designs, and her youtube channel at Michelle Bendy Stitchy.
The Great Serpent Ouroboros
The Wheel of Time logo is a concept of the Great Serpent Ouroboros. The Great Serpent Ouroboros is a symbol often associated with cycles, eternity, and self-reflexivity. It depicts a serpent or dragon biting its own tail, forming a continuous circle. This symbol has been found in various ancient cultures and is often interpreted as representing the cyclic nature of existence, the eternal return, or the infinite nature of time.
The Wheel of Time itself is a central theme in the series, representing the cyclical nature of time and the repeating patterns of history. The Wheel weaves the threads of the Pattern, which encompasses all events and lives, into the fabric of reality.
The Great Serpent Ouroboros is closely tied to the Wheel of Time in the mythology of the series. According to the legends within the books, the Wheel is represented as a serpent, and the Ouroboros symbolizes its eternal nature. The Wheel continually turns, creating Ages that rise and fall, each one repeating certain events and patterns. The Ouroboros biting its own tail symbolizes the eternal cycle of creation, destruction, and rebirth.

Wheel of Time Cross Stitch Guide
This was the first time I used entirely metallic thread to stitch a cross stitch pattern, and I have to say, that although I loved the outcome… it is not fabulous to work with. I stitched the Wheel of Time cross stitch on 32 count linen over 1, so I separated the metallic thread into single strands. If you stitch over one with too much thread, you will quickly run out of space to fit each stitch.
If you want to stitch this pattern, you can choose whichever colours you prefer, and on linen or aida.
This pattern uses whole cross stitches only, making it great for any level of stitcher. It also contains NO backstitching. Celebrate good times, c’mon! Sorry, I really don’t love backstitching.

Fabric for Wheel of Time Cross Stitch Pattern

18 count size 6-1/4 inches x 5-3/4 inches or 15.7cm x 14.4cm

Please allow a minimum of 5cm extra on each side for framing, also, I highly recommend deciding on a frame size before stitching, so as to allow extra fabric accordingly. 🙂
